Which Nation Are We?

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.
~ Psalm 33:12

Hubby discussed this verse with our kids today in our school. As we were discussing it, my thought was, "Are we that nation? Are we a nation that blesses God?"

No.

Hubby was teaching the kids about the court case that ruled prayer out of public schools. Since that year—1962—can anyone say our country has become better?

It doesn't take an analyst to see the data. Since that year, I don't think any one could deny that the social ills of our nation have increased.

I can't help but think of our nation's history and see the accomplishments God gave us. The prime example is the American Revolution. How in the world did this new little country, whose soldiers were predominantly untrained, defeat the greatest empire in the world at that time?

We need to become a nation whose God is the Lord and the Lord alone. I know that begins with my family.

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. ~ Joshua 24:15

I am recommitting to be more diligent to pray for our nation, Congress, and our nation's leader.
