Cement Vs. Concrete

The day had ended. Kids were tucked in their beds. I was ready to fall asleep. My husband had decided to unwind by watching yet another video online about construction or something like that. (His viewing history on youtube is all woodworking or DIY) Before I drifted off to sleep, I overheard the video discussing the difference between cement and concrete.

Cement is a powdery substance and when mixed with water, sand, and gravel it makes concrete.

For some strange reason, it got me to thinking of how spiritually we are like cement and concrete.

Cement—powdery
can be easily moved or blown away
has potential to become something stronger
Concrete—mixed with something else to become stronger
able to be poured into a mold
                    strong, unmovable

As a person, one is like cement that has the potential to become something stronger. When the person is mixed with the Holy Spirit (aka getting saved), one becomes like concrete, which is strong, able to be poured into a mold (modeling our lives after Christ), and strong.

As I said earlier, I was just drifting off to sleep, so this wasn't something terribly profound.
